The WordPress plugin

The Wunderly plugin adds forms to WordPress with a block or a shortcode. It needs WordPress 6.0 or later and PHP 7.4 or later. It's built and waiting on wordpress.org's review; until it's listed, the code from Share works on any WordPress site (without the plugin).

The Wunderly form block

Add the "Wunderly form" block, paste the link to your form from Share, and press Use this form. A link that isn't a Wunderly form's says so: "That isn't a Wunderly form link. Copy it from Share in Wunderly."

  • Inherit site styles, on by default: the form takes on the site's fonts and colors. Off, it keeps Wunderly's own look.
  • With a Pro API key, the block's Form panel lists your live forms to choose from, and still takes a pasted link (which is how a client's form goes in, for agencies).
  • The editor shows which form the block holds, not the form itself: it shows on the published page. That way your own editing isn't counted as views.

The shortcode

For the Classic Editor, or anywhere shortcodes run:

[wunderly form="https://wunderly.page/your-form" inherit="no"]

form takes the form's link, its embed code, or its id. Leave out inherit to use the site's setting; yes takes on the site's look, no keeps Wunderly's.

Settings, Wunderly

  • API key, optional. Make one in Wunderly under Integrations (it starts with wk_). After saving, the page says "Connected. 2 live forms.", or what went wrong: "That key wasn't accepted. Make a new one in Wunderly under Integrations.", "API keys need Pro. Paste a form link into the block instead.", or "Couldn't reach Wunderly. Try again in a minute."
  • Site styles: whether forms take on the site's fonts and colors unless a block says otherwise.

What it loads, and what it stores

On your visitors' pages, the plugin loads Wunderly's embed script from wunderly.page, and only on pages that show a form. It adds no tracking and sets no cookies. The key stays on your server: only WordPress talks to Wunderly with it, when the editor or the settings page opens.

It stores two settings, the key and the default look. Deactivating keeps them; deleting the plugin removes them, on every site of a network. Blocks and shortcodes already on pages stay where they are.

On Free

Everything but the list of forms works on Free: paste a link instead. A Free form takes on the look of the first site it's embedded on (more on that).
